WELCOME to Little Girl Loud, a new web project by girls and for girls.

We know it can be tough out there. We’re changing. Our world is changing. Sometimes, it feels like it’s changing for the worse, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. And sometimes, it feels like no one out there wants to listen to us.

But we want to listen to each other.

And the fact of the matter is this: we are strong. We are smart. We are beautiful. We are brave. We are LOUD. We feel what we feel, and we feel it fully and brightly and vibrantly. Our sound is not always one of harmony, but the dissonance must be valued.

Come here and breathe. Make art. Make noise. Make someone smile. Make yourself smile.

Tell your story; share your story; help someone else share theirs. Let’s all feel a little less alone together, shall we?

Keep on rockin’, girls.

There was this one time, in the summer, after I lost my first love for the first time, that I had a spiritual encounter with the internet.

Our first featured piece of writing comes from Katy Cockrell, founder of Little Girl Lost and self-proclaimed Bob Dylan enthusiast/believer in coincidence.

believe the wondrous is real. that is how you wish it into being.

—a magical quote from the ever-quotable Diana Vreeland (via evachen212)

You tried to change, didn’t you? Closed your mouth more, tried to be softer, prettier, less volatile, less awake…You can’t make homes out of human beings. Someone should have already told you that.
